Director of Engineering – Remote/ US – Food and Beverage

Location: Remote, US

We’re looking for an experienced Director of Engineering to lead engineering strategy, technical excellence and continuous improvement across its advanced indoor growing facilities. You will lead the engineering function supporting current operations and future facility expansion, overseeing complex capital projects, facility upgrades and the development of reliable, sustainable and highly automated systems.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute the engineering strategy supporting CEA operations, facility expansion and production optimisation.
• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams across mechanical, electrical, automation and facility systems.
• Oversee new facility builds, retrofits, major upgrades and other capital projects from design through to delivery.
• Manage contractors, vendors, engineering consultants and equipment suppliers, ensuring projects meet budget, timeline, safety and regulatory requirements.
• Drive the adoption of automation, data-driven engineering and sustainable technologies to improve yield, quality, energy efficiency and operational resilience.
• Establish engineering standards, processes and documentation across current and future facilities.
• Lead complex troubleshooting and root-cause analysis across facility and production systems.
• Build, mentor and develop a high-performing engineering organisation across multiple sites.
• Champion a strong culture of safety, reliability, sustainability and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering; a master’s is preferred.
• 10+ years’ engineering leadership experience.
• Strong experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and complex capital projects.
• Proven experience with automation, facility systems and large-scale infrastructure.
• Strong technical knowledge across mechanical systems, HVAC/climate control, fluid systems, building utilities and industrial automation.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication and cross-functional leadership skills.
