Senior Product Development Engineer – Scientific Instrumentation – SE London/Kent

 

About the Company:

We are looking for an experienced Product Development/Design Engineer with experience in designing pressurised or hydraulic systems to join the NPD department of an expanding instrumentation industry in the Southeast London/ Kent. This is a varied role that encompasses product design, prototype building and testing.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design pressurised interfaces for scientific instruments/equipment to ASMR design standards and pressure directives.
  • Create, update and maintain technical files.
  • Product validation and verification.
  • Lead the design and testing of new products in collaboration with internal departments.
  • Ensure that existing product designs are updated according to change requests, specifications and quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Effective communication across the business concerning updates.
  • Assist with the innovation pipeline.
  • Assist with continuous improvement.
  • Participate in design reviews.
  • Maintain an awareness of the latest manufacturing and engineering techniques.

 

Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience using 3D CAD software, ideally SolidWorks or proven adaptability if not.
  • Hands-on experience designing and testing pressurised or hydraulic systems.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to travel within the UK or abroad as needed.
  • Ability to work onsite full time.
  • Other beneficial attributes:
  • Experience developing test methods and procedures.
  • A knowledge of relevant ASME design standards.
  • Project management experience.
