Director of Financial Operations - Food Contract Manufacturing
Based: Vernon, CA
Salary Range: $195,000 - $220,000
About our Client: Kinetica are partnered with a rapidly growing Food Contract Manufacturer in Los Angeles, CA on a new Director of Financial Operations opening. This role will lead Operational Finance, Cost Accounting, and Customer Pricing team. Partner with Operations to communicate key financial metrics on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Team should communicate build and delivery effective, actionable reporting, and embed strong financial controls in operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with plant management to improve efficiency and profitability.
- Identify issues, implement new processes, and ensure success through reporting.
- Train plant managers on financial statements and key metrics.
- Address operational red flags quickly to reduce costs and improve performance.
- Ensure inventory and financial controls are in place.
- Oversee month-end close processes for accurate financial reporting.
- Maintain consistent financial controls across all plant locations.
- Implement daily & weekly material cost reporting to track waste, inventory, and efficiency.
- Develop labor cost standards and compare actual vs. forecasted usage.
- Provide detailed SKU, customer mix, and pricing analysis.
- Generate weekly and monthly reports on plant financial performance.
- Perform detailed cost variance analysis (purchase price, labor, efficiency, etc.).
- Maintain and improve costing methodology in ERP systems.
- Adjust cost models for new products, brands, and pricing strategies.
- Work with Sales and FP&A to align pricing models.
- Establish pricing approval processes for customer deals.
- Lead and develop the cost accounting team.
- Provide training and mentorship for finance teams.
- Develop and enforce financial policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance or 7+ years as a Plant Controller.
- 7-12 years of financial management experience.
- Experience leading teams and implementing new policies.
- Food manufacturing/distribution experience preferred.
- Strong technical aptitude for financial systems and reporting.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving business.
