We are currently looking for an Operations Director to join a specialist medical device company in Leeds.  This role involves implementing, leading and maintaining the facility to ensure compliance with relevant ISO standards, and the requirements of relevant global Medical Device guidelines.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Recruiting, training and developing employees site-wide
  • Ensuring conformity with established quality objectives
  • Acting as legal manufacturing point person for European Competent Authorities and Notified Body
  • Cooperating with R&D, Quality, Finance, Regulatory, Supply Chain and HR to ensure alignment and results
  • Managing the site operating budget and resources
  • Instilling an environment that promotes continuous improvement
  • Managing compliance risks via internal and/or external audits

Candidate requirements:

  • Experience in a similar role from the medical implants industry
  • BA/BSc degree in either Management or Engineering, or class 3 experience in a similar role
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Able to lead the team with performance metrics and goals
  • Green Belt certification in Lean or Six Sigma would be beneficial
  • Experience taking a product from R&D to commercialisation
  • Able to adapt quickly to changing conditions and resolve conflicts in an efficient manner
  • Sound knowledge of cGMP / cGLP requirements, industry standard guidelines, and process validation for the medical device industry is essential
